Alex Fombo

Hi, I’m Alex, I began my career in the travel industry as cabin crew for a long-haul airline, which gave me the opportunity to visit incredible places all over the world. I’ve spent over half my life travelling to destinations like the USA, Asia, Caribbean, Australia and Africa. I’m passionate about learning from different cultures and uncovering what makes each place unique. These experiences have shaped my approach to travel and hospitality, I’m excited to bring that perspective to my work.

When did you start working in the travel industry? 2000 

Why did you start working in travel / what brought you to the industry? My passion for travel began at a young age, inspired by my Mum’s career in the travel industry. Driven by a desire to explore the world, I became a Flight Attendant in 2000 and spent 25 incredible years working and travelling across the world. Today, I channel that experience into my role as a Travel Consultant, crafting personalised holidays with insight and care. 

What’s your favourite aspect of your job? I love meeting new people, learning what they’re looking for, and crafting personalised travel experiences they’ll never forget. 

What quality (or qualities) are most valuable in a travel agent? A person who truly listens to the client’s desires, understands their needs, and asks thoughtful questions to create the best possible travel experience package.

Best piece of advice / top travel tip? 

• Stay hydrated during your flight by purchasing a bottle of water at the airport before boarding. 
• If hotel curtains let in too much light, use a hanger with clips to hold them tightly closed. 
• Roll your clothes instead of folding them in your suitcase, it saves space and helps prevent creases.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a travel expert? I’m really into travel and fitness, so either a Travel Journalist or a Personal Trainer.
