USA

The USA offers everything from sun-kissed beaches to elegant cities, and exhilarating theme parks to rugged national parks.

Need inspiration? We recently created this trip which highlights the Golden Northwest.

When it comes to cities, the USA is unmatched worldwide. Boston is a wonderful mix of old and new. Discover the city on foot by doing the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail through downtown Boston and Charlestown. New York attracts people for various reasons. Some come for the shopping, some for the sport, some for the sites - the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square and Central Park – while others for the theatre. Washington DC – the capital – is a warm city and the White House is worth a visit, sitting on the Potomac River, while there are also a multitude of museums, memorials and galleries.

Famous for Hollywood and its beaches, Los Angeles is a sprawling but interesting city. Make sure you do the Walk Of Fame before joining a tour to see the homes of film and TV stars. Further south, San Diego is home to equally great beaches but is more relaxed. The last of our favourite cities is San Francisco. Visit the iconic Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, Union Square and drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. With top notch eateries and an active community, San Fran is a family friendly, fascinating city.

Known as the sunshine State, Florida is the place for great beaches and a fun family holiday. If you need an adrenalin rush then Orlando works well with Four Disney Theme Parks, Two Universal Parks, Sea World, Lego Land and countless Water Parks to keep everyone happy.  Las Vegas – the larger-than-life entertainment capital of America – is worth visiting at least once in its own right, but is also a great starting point for a road trip around the National Parks of Arizona and Utah, including the Grand Canyon and Zion.

The southern states are full of charm with quaint state capitols. Visit Tennessee and see the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, visit Elvis's home Graceland in Memphis, or where he was born in Tupelo Mississippi. If you appreciate stunning scenery then Yosemite, Yellowstone, Arches National Park are all beautiful but for real exploring, head to Alaska. Explore it by road or cruise, making sure that as part of the trip you visit Denali National Park.

Hawaii is a 4 - 5 hour flight from San Francisco. Made up of a handful of islands, Oahu is home to Honolulu with lovely beaches, but it can get busy. Best fly to Maui or Kauai for pristine, uninhabited regions and enormous stretches of beach all to yourself.

The USA is so huge we cannot possibly cover the whole country in one page. Please speak to us about each region in detail. It’s best to visit one part of the country at a time, rather than trying to encompass the whole nation in one visit – unless you have more than a month at your disposal!
